University of Leicester
United Kingdom
Приєднався 22 тра 2008
The University of Leicester was founded a hundred years ago in the aftermath of the Great War. The men and women who built this new institution hoped that it would be not only a living memorial to the darkness of their recent past, but a beacon of hope for the future. Their aim was that sacrifices made in war should be commemorated through education and research that would change the world for the better.
Today our University is a lively, energetic and global community, in which dedicated and talented people are anticipating, working towards and helping to shape the future.
We are committed both to undertaking research that saves, improves and enriches lives, and to fostering a teaching and learning environment that transforms the prospects of our students and those they will go on to influence.

Cosmic blast hunter SVOM to launch with optimal optics from Leicester
A satellite telescope designed to rapidly hunt down the universe’s biggest explosions will launch later this month, carrying technology developed at the University of Leicester.
The Space Variable Objects Monitor (SVOM) is the second mission this year to benefit from expertise in x-ray optics at Leicester, following the launch of Einstein Probe in January.
The SVOM mission (Space-based multi-band astronomical Variable Objects Monitor) is a Franco-Chinese mission dedicated to the study of the most distant explosions of stars, the gamma-ray bursts, due to be launched on 22nd June 2024 from the Xichang launch base.
It is the result of a collaboration between the two national space agencies, CNSA (China National Space Administration) and CNES (Centre national d’études spatiales), with the main contributions of the Institute of Research into the Fundamental Laws of the Universe (Irfu) and the Research Institute of Astrophysics and Planetology (IRAP) for France and the National Astronomical Observatory (NAO) and the Beijing High Energy Institute (IHEP) for China.
The team at the University of Leicester built and tested the optics for the x-ray telescope on SVOM, called the microchannel x-ray telescope (MXT). It is the latest mission they have contributed their substantial experience of building optics to, which has also been used on ESA/JAXA’s BepiColombo mission. They will also be part of the science team for the mission, boosting their research into high-energy physics across the universe.

Hello, is there anybody here who is joining the Uni of Leicester in the upcoming September 2024 intake?
For all of those who admire Richard for dying trying to keep England under his control, please remember the following: 1. Execution of Lord Hastings: Richard III ordered the arrest and subsequent execution of his ally, William Hastings, during a council meeting in June 1483. This act was seen as a bold move to consolidate his power after assuming the throne. 2. Alleged Murder of the Princes in the Tower: One of the most notorious accusations against Richard III is that he ordered the murder of his young nephews, Edward V and Richard of Shrewsbury (known as the Princes in the Tower). They disappeared in 1483, and their fate remains a mystery, though Richard III is widely suspected of having them killed to secure his claim to the throne. 3. Execution of Henry Stafford: Richard III ordered the execution of Henry Stafford, Duke of Buckingham, in 1483. Buckingham had initially supported Richard's claim to the throne but later rebelled against him, possibly due to dissatisfaction with Richard's policies. 4. Treatment of Henry VI: During his rise to power, Richard III was implicated in the death of Henry VI, the former king. Although the circumstances of Henry VI's death are debated, it is believed Richard III may have had a hand in eliminating potential Lancastrian threats to his rule. 5. Battles and Military Actions: Richard III was involved in several battles during his brief reign, most notably the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485. His defeat and death in this battle marked the end of the Plantagenet dynasty and the beginning of the Tudor era. Let's not heap praise on the man because he was trying to keep the nation under his control.
Beautiful.
"s" curved long bones, Neanderthal.
The worst time in history for the last Plantagenet King of England's remains to have been found the ultra left wing Virtue Signalling parade lead by a group of 'musicians ' from the local takeaway backed up by Marxist clergy...what could possibly go wrong 🤔🤐🤐🤐
❤❤❤❤❤❤😮😮😮すばらしい 1:33 😊😊 😊
Debbie is kinda milfy.
It's not as good now. Plenty of city accommodation now, especially with Freeman's common being rebuilt. Oadby is being downsized buildings are being sold off like Digby, as there's less students now. There's four large commercial kitchens built when the halls used to be catered but they are now all abandoned. In Oadby there's a student pub called "village hub", sports facility, supermarkets and thats it. There has been a shuttle bus service included in the rent, something that hasn't happened in the past. Although it goes to show that the uni wants you in town where they have their on campus shops with food during the day and at night they have their own o2 academy venue, that they own as well. Oadby makes sense if you are on a budget and get a double room to share, as those rooms tend to be massive + cheap but you have to find/deal swith someone willing to share. Most of the accomodation dosent make sense priced at £100+ as you can get something else in the city.
"I'm going to whisper a number in your ear, tell me what it is." *leans in and whispers* "Hail Hydra"
It's said by Langley herself that all the sources were always there to find where Richard was. I presume this means... for centuries? But let's stick with the 20th Century - the longest techno century so far. So, in that century they raised Henry VIIIs ship 'The Mary Rose' from the sea, and spent millions and years to slowly impregnate the timbers with preservative, and now it's a tourist attraction. So, why did nobody ever want to 'find' Richard under a few feet of tarmac? Is that the real 'bone' of contention between 'parties'. Was the location always known and were.... em certain parties - annoyed when someone came sniffing and asking for a digger to dig RIGHT where certain parties never wanted to dig. Can Medieval bad blood last over 600 years?
The way English should be spoken! ..... clearly, slowly, and beautifully
I listen to good slices of this and in that bit towards the end about character and 'we are not advocates for Richard III', I see concern for the reputation not of a long dead King, but for the reputation of a long dead Playwright. I think the nerves seem more directed at Literary history, particularly the Godlike status of Mr Shakespeare, than political rivalry between Plantagenet and Tudor fans. Of course Shakespeare was just a playwright, not an historian; even so, I think there seemed to be nerves that a new version of Richard III might belittle the reputation of some iconic Shakespearean plays. Mr Taylor seemed fearful of his English Lit department! ;)
you had my curiosity... and now you have my attention.
People like this, never retire. How fortunate we are. One of the many brilliant minds..Thank you.
Loved your work with Strawbs. Fantastic!
The English language is property of the Teutonic race. It’s not a “global asset”. Chinese people shouldn’t speak English. Allowing foreigners to intrude upon the English language is no less dangerous then allowing them to buy British land. Asians have a specific territory, and a specific language. They’re not Westerners.
What’s the book he’s reading the passage from? Sounds lit.
How dare Julie Ecthingham rephrases the question about Palestine. Julie you need educating. In 1912 Britain stole Palestine from the indigenous people of Palestine and gave the land to Zionists from Europe. They changed their names to sound native. Palestinians have been living under illegal occupation for 75 years. They have been ethnically cleanse and are murders every other day. The Palestinians resistance are fighting back for their land back. The only terrorists are the thieving occupiers who keep killing them. How would you like it if they came to your house and kicked you and your family out of your house and made you a refugee in the back garden and we blamed you. What would you say to your children. You would be call led a terrorist for wanting your home back. So stop mouthing off Zionist propaganda. Have you ever spoken to a Palestinian whose house been stolen and members of his family been murdered. No you play ignorant and blame the native people of Palestine. You have been exposed as an another media stooge like piers Morgan and kier Starmer. Did you see how both were genocidal Zionists were nodding their heads in appreciation on how you rephrased the question. That was the seal of approval. You have been exposed as Zionist stooge.
Leicester university is the best!
he was a Genuine King, and I am sad that the present Royal Family, though not directly related did little to mark his funeral. he should have been buried with Full military honours befitting a king.
Is it not necessary to listen at all 4 sites of the heart with the bell of the stethoscope?
Bank? Mammo
I wish there more videos of this man. He's just so good!
I like how the patient felt the need to engage audiobook narrator level oration when reading the figures.
Good to watch
Hi! I am from Bangladesh. I have a student consultancy firm in Bangladesh. How can we collaborate?
I remember you were very pessimistic , Philippa Langley should take all the glory for the incredible discovery,,, I watched the documentary, I remember you and your fellow colleagues being very negative.
A great man
Beautiful
I've watched this many times. A little "out of breath" sometimes, but still stellar performance.
This is so interesting and beautiful! What a fantastic find!!! I can’t wait to see more in this site!!!❤
Frances Barber is a superb actress and i always make a point to watch when ever i can , but for me she has always been incredibly erotic and deeply sensuous and with a very beautiful looks through out her career, i am still mesmerised by her beautiful eyes and gaze.
Enjoyed meeting you today, all the best to you in the pursuit of your PhD!
